Community Wellness Worker
Scope:
Under the supervision of the Health Director the Community Wellness Worker will assess existing needs for and oversees the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of community-based healing and treatment programs and services; provides best practice guidance and technical consultation to colleagues, local communities, contract service programs and public sector agencies; conducts data analysis and prepares system-oriented reports; performs related duties as required.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
► To support/develop a network of healing and wellness-related programs and
services (ie. Family Violence Awareness, Prevention Program/Workshops etc.)
Adhere to Annual Submission (fiscal work plan)
Submit year end reports and annual submissions according to the Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Strategy guideline with input from community (ie. Chief and Council, supervisor, community members, Elders Advisory and Youth Advisory Councils)
Prepare monthly progress reports (to include type of service provided, number of clients served, number of Elders and Volunteers utilized, projects implemented, number of participants, etc.)
Delivery and maintenance of activities within a life skills program, develop needs assessment, follow up/evaluations for participants, design cultural awareness component, design job readiness activities, etc)
Identify funding agencies, develop and submit proposals
Attend Kenora Area Community Wellness Worker Meetings and training.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Thorough knowledge of community health services and resources
Experience in developing, implementing and facilitating community projects
Successful experience in securing funding through proposal writing efforts
Excellent written/oral communication skills (necessary to link with community
members via home visits, one-to-one sessions. Workshop facilitation skills.

Leadership ability with strong interpersonal skills
Able to work with other staff on community projects Functional Computer literacy required
General knowledge of Anishinabe , values. and beliefs in respect to health and wellness
Must maintain a healthy lifestyle free from drugs and alcohol.
Access to vehicle and valid drivers license
This position is full time with a 6-month probationary period.
Salary: Commensurate with experience. PFT 6-month probationary period.
