Mission Statement

The Finance Department serves the Nation by blending sound financial governance with our cultural teachings and responsibilities. In accordance with the Big Grassy First Nation Financial Administration Law 2023, we commit to:

  • Protecting the Nation’s financial and tangible capital assets as sacred trusts for our children and grandchildren.
  • Supporting Chief and Council in exercising their fiduciary duties with honesty, diligence, and good faith.
  • Preparing strategic plans, multi-year financial plans, and annual budgets that reflect community priorities and long-term sustainability.
  • Maintaining transparent reporting in accordance with GAAP, FMB standards, and applicable laws.
  • Upholding strong internal controls, risk management practices, and fraud prevention measures.
  • Promoting accountability to our members through accessible, clear, and timely financial information.
  • Building financial capacity within our organization to strengthen self-determination and economic independence.
  • Acting with integrity, humility, and respect in all financial decision-making.
