Ontario Works Employment Worker

The Employment Worker is a full-time, permanent position.  The Employment Worker provides assistance, counseling and information to clients on all aspects of employment search and career planning.  They also link and communicate with potential employers regarding human resource and employment issues.

Manage a percentage of the caseload that is referred by the caseworker and/or Ontario Works Administrator specific to participants who have mandatory participation requirements; Case file maintenance at the standards within the Ontario Works Act;

Interview clients and/or participants to obtain employment history, barriers, educational background and career goals; enter participant data in the Ontario Works calculator – employment assistance section;

Completion and monitoring of the Participation Agreement and employment assistance activities;

Administer the Literacy Screening Questionnaire to the participants;

Provide employment/career counseling; assess needs for assistance such as rehabilitation, financial aid or further vocational training and refer clients to appropriate services, administer and interpret tests designed to determine the interests, aptitudes and abilities of clients;

OTHER DUTIES

Assisting applicants and clients as required;

making regular home visits to clients to ensure needs are being met;

Assisting in the promotion of education, training, and employment opportunities;

Assist in preparing and implementing financial and employment workshops for Ontario Works clients;

Other duties as assigned by the Ontario Works Administrator.

Busy office setting.

Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.

Interacts with public at large.

Ability to conduct and attend presentations.

Sitting for long periods.

Repetitive work.

Overtime may be required.

 

Salary: Commensurate with experience. PFT  6-month probationary period.

This position is full time with a 6-month probationary period.  POSITION AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY! RESUME DUE OCTOBER 30th 2020
